Self-Sabotage: Catching Up to our Higher Self

BY

Self-sabotage occurs when the beliefs and desires we have about ourselves haven’t caught up with the beliefs and desires that our higher self has for us.

As a result, when an opportunity for growth, happiness and fulfillment shows up in our life, our ego comes in to sabotage it.

Usually, self-sabotage comes in the form of excuses and limiting thoughts about ourselves, other people and life in general.

As a result of our self-sabotaging beliefs and the subsequent excuses they create, we inevitably attract situations and excuses that give us an easy way out. We can then lie to ourselves by claiming it wasn’t our fault that things didn’t work out because other people tried to keep us from having what we wanted.

So what do I mean by this notion that we ourselves attract the situations and excuses that give us a way out?

It’s a lot like if you had two magnets. Two positive poles of the magnet would repel one another but if you were to turn one magnet around and send the negative pole of that magnet toward the positive pole of the other, the two magnets would attract one another and come together with a force. It’s the same thing with our personal energetic body.

When we are in the world interacting with others carrying an unspoken self-sabotaging belief, our energetic body gives out a signal to those around us. Without having to say one single word, the world around us will align to that belief.

In the same way, if we are in the world with an unspoken belief of our worthiness, our sense of self in tact, our dreams and visions for our future clear and committed, the world around us will align to that energy.

Self-sabotage is particularly strong with people on the spiritual path because our collective purpose extends beyond our personal wellbeing to the wellbeing of one another and the entire world. As a rule of thumb, the bigger our life’s purpose, the stronger the self-sabotaging ego strategies will be. A note too: you may also notice an uptick in drama and other coincidences in your life as you come closer to fulfilling a dream or vision you have for yourself - almost as if to test your resolve.

Usually self-sabotage is rooted in a single core limiting belief we have about ourselves that creates further minor beliefs that the Universe then responds to. Drama queens/kings are prime examples of how this works. You might recognize them as those who complain that their lives aren’t turning out the way they want or intend. In fact though, the real reason is that they are simply the result of carrying around a single core belief that was probably created early on in their life which has ended up catching on and has wreaked havoc ever since.

The energy we put out into the world is the energy that we attract. Every single time.

The question is this: Are you ready to do the inner work required to attract the energy of what you truly envision for your life?

The bigger question is: Are you ready to do the inner work to be responsible for the life you envision for yourself?

Start by identifying at least one of your limiting beliefs. It’s typically identified as the nagging internal dialog that begins with “I can’t” followed by some end to that sentence you’ve been playing around and around in your head for years, perhaps even decades.

Once you’ve identified some of your core limiting beliefs, let’s start doing the heavy lifting of releasing them either through coaching or through energy healing work.

Are you ready to let go of your preconceived notions of yourself and your future?
