What You Need to Know About Energy Centers - Part 1

When we talk about the ancient practices of Shamanic Energy Healing, we are referring to caring for the Luminous Energy Field, that invisible energetic field that surrounds each and every one of us. Before we can dive into the Energetic Healing Exercises we must first learn about energy centers or chakras!

It’s important to understand the Luminous Energy Field or LEF. Our energetic bodies contain chakras, or wheels of energy each of which has its own unique frequency that we perceive as one of the colors of the rainbow. Energy centers metabolize life energies from nature. All of our energy comes from five sources: plants and animals, water, air, sunlight and biomagnetic energy or chi, prana, or causay to the Inka.

These luminous energies circulate through our bodies just as food and water, the physical energies, course throughout bodies.

"Always we hope someone else has the answer. Some other place will be better, some other time it will all turn out. This is it. No one else has the answer, no other place will be better, and it has already turned out. At the center of your being, you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want."

Lao Tzu

We all have experienced some sort of trauma or loss along the way. These traumas leave toxic residues behind like a scratch on a piece of glass. This residue acts as a sort of sludge which adheres to our chakras and does not allow energy to vibrate at its pure frequency.

Once we clear the toxins from our LEF, we are freed up to experience the deep and undying connection between body, mind and spirit and reunite with our life’s purpose.

So the first step in any energy healing is to assess your Luminous Energy Field by testing each one of your energy centers to determine where the energy is blocked.

What is the significance behind my energy centers, I hear you asking.

Well, let me give you a short version of each of the energy center system I work with when I am assessing and healing a client. Some traditions work with nine chakras however, I work with the core seven in my healing practice. I will ultimately touch on the other two down the road when we arrive there.

This week, let’s talk about the first two energy centers beginning with the first, which is known in the ancient language of Sanskrit as the muladhara chakra. This energy center is located at the very base of our spine and is the physical foundation. The color associated with it is red and its element is earth.

The first chakra is responsible for keeping us grounded, the elimination of waste and houses our primal instincts of fear, feeding, fighting and fornicating. The parts of the body associated with this energy center are the rectum, the ovaries and testes, the legs and the feet.

Traumas experienced in the first years of our lives up to age seven are recorded into this energy center.

The negative expressions of this energy center are: Hoarding, predatory behavior, mindless violence, chronic fatigue, abandonment issues, birth trauma, feeling motherless or orphaned. We tend to build walls of protection around us.

But when this energy center is balanced and operating optimally, the signs of a healthy first energy center are: feeding ourselves, shelter, safety, ability to provide for yourself and safety.

The second energy center, located about two fingers below the belly button, is called the svadhisthana chakra in Sanskrit. Its color is orange and its element is water. This chakra passes through the womb where life germinates. It is also where the seeds of passion and creativity germinate and will bloom in your upper energy center.

All energy is metabolized as food to this energy center.

This energy center is responsible for our digestion, intestines, kidneys, urinary tract, sexual potency, adrenaline, lower back pain, menstrual pain and loss of appetite.

This energy center is all about power, money, sex, control, fear, fighting, passion, self-esteem, sexual or emotional abuse experienced between the ages of seven and fourteen, parental issues, incest.

If this energy center is out of balance, you may experience fear, fighting, anger, feeling that the world is out to get you. You may have an attitude of entitlement and/or confuse sex with love.

When this energy center is working optimally, it can digest negative emotions like anger and fear and expel them through our first energy center as waste.

These two energy centers along with the third and fourth are EARTH CHAKRAS. As earth chakras, they are nourished primarily by the earth just the way a tree carries nutrients up its trunk to the highest branches. Sunlight that it absorbs into its leaves turns into energy that is transferred all the way to its roots.

After my initial assessment of my clients energy centers, I begin by assessing each energy center from the first one all the way up to the seventh. Once I determine which energy centers are not operating optimally and are sluggish and subdued in color, I work on the chakra closest to Mother Earth.

In the following weeks, I will continue to explain all of the remaining energy centers.
