In this week’s blog we continue our discussion about the energy body. Energy centers or “chakras” are wheels of energy which reside about four inches off our physical body. These energy centers absorb, maintain and remember toxic and negative experiences and emotions whose energetic imprint gets left behind. Think of your energy body like a glass window..
When one or more of our energy centers is affected by past experiences, traumas or even people, it leaves a residue on our energetic body in the way dirt would stay on a window until we clean it.
In the past few weeks, we’ve examined the first six chakras in detail. The first four are considered the Earth Chakras as they are nourished primarily by the earth just the way a tree carries nutrients up its trunk to the highest branches. Sunlight that it absorbs into its leaves turns into energy that is transferred all the way to its roots.
The next four chakras (the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth energy centers) are considered SKY CHAKRAS. While they are supported by the earth chakras, the sky chakras propel us toward the heavens (our spiritual selves) and toward our becoming.
Please note: If you haven’t yet read the previous blog posts about the other six energy centers up to this point, please refer back at any time).
Like all of the other energy centers, the seventh energy center has its own color, location, element in nature and demon.
Thought is the element of the seventh chakra. No wonder then that the location of the seventh energy center is the cerebral cortex. The color is violet. Its demon is attachment.
When this chakra is balanced, we have an ability to perceive, analyze, and assimilate information. We are thoughtful, aware, intelligent, open-minded and able to question. We’re also spiritually connected and have a degree of wisdom and mastery with a broad understanding.
When this energy center is out of balance, it would make sense that we would be a bit cynical spiritually, we might have rigid belief systems, learning difficulties and apathy. There may also be an excess in the lower energy centers that looks much like materialism, greed and the domination of others.
When this energy center is operating in excess, there might be over intellectualization, spiritual addiction, confusion or even disassociation with the body.
When this center is not balanced, there may be migraines, brain tumors, amnesia, or even cognitive delusions. Some of the contributing factors from our past that may have caused trauma or abuse to this energy center may have been withheld information, education that stifles curiosity, forced religiosity, invalidation of one’s beliefs, misinformation, lies, or spiritual abuse.
When I work with a client in my capacity as an energy healer, I first assess each of the chakras to determine which of the chakras is out of balance. Oftentimes, it is more than one energy center that is moving in a counterclockwise direction. I work with the energy center that is closest to Mother Earth first in our session. This is because the chakra system starts with the first energy center or root chakra located at the base of the spine and moves up the spine all the way to the crown. When one or more of the first three energy centers is not operating in an ideal way, we cannot access the higher chakras.
